Nothing much happened today. Emily and I had Freshness Burger for lunch and then came back to my place where I made her watch Lost Boys for the sole reason that she hadn't ever seen it. I have a new appreciation for bad 80's synth let alone the bad 80's sax.

It was absolutely bucketing down for most of the day but still stinking hot. Much like home really.

Then we went to Sarah's and watched Dusk til Dawn.

I wonder if you had the same problem with The Lost Boys as I did when I watched it recently after about a 15 year gap since my adolescent follies where I must have seen it a dozen times (preferably with alcohol) and I wondered, briefly, why I ever loved this movie, then fought viciously to hang on to that nostalgia and not let the bad sax and bad hair and Jami Gertz's shoulder pads ruin what was, for me, a childhood treasure. Or maybe it's just me.

We were just talking about Lost Boys at our house the other day. One of the songs from the soundtrack came on somewhere (can't remember where), and I it instantly reminded me of the movie and how much I love it. I will try to pretend I didn't see Invisible Lizard's comment and refuse to think about the horror of that situation, at least until the same thing happens to me.

Wow, I too recently watched Lost Boys because I hadn't realised that Santa Cruz (the place Santa Carla is based on) is near San Francisco, where Andre is at the moment.

Like you other guys, I have always loved this movie, but unlike you guys I haven't let the gap get to 15 years between viewings. I've probably been watching it once a year. The shock isn't so great, and I still get a kick out of the characters. :-)

I don't know. It was weird watching it with Em. I felt like I was looking at it with fresh eyes, but it hasn't fundamentally changed how I feel. It's like an old friend. The flaws are endearing, familiar and comfortable.
